Autumn Colours Walk

SATURDAY, 29th OCTOBER 2016

Please join our 6 mile Sponsored Walk in aid of CARE AFRICA NETWORK, supporting work to benefit orphans and vulnerable children in Africa

This is primarily a sponsored walk but if you would prefer, you can walk and give us a GiftAid-able donation – accompanied children go free

MEETING PLACE

We meet at 10 am in Selborne, High Street, Hampshire, GU34 3JR, in the garden behind the Selborne Arms. Selborne is on the B3006 from Alton to the A3 and Liss.  On reaching Selborne from Alton, The Selborne Arms is on your right.  Turn right immediately after the pub into the car park.  The pub garden is accessible directly from the car park.

PARKING

This is available in the car park behind the Selborne Arms.  Walkers may like to visit The Gilbert White House and garden and Museum after the walk.

ON ARRIVAL

The Selborne Arms has kindly agreed for us to use their garden and covered area for registration.

Please sign in, and hand in your sponsorship form AND SPONSORSHIP MONEY/DONATION, preferably in the form of a cheque made payable to “Care Africa Network”.

Why not buy a T-shirt? These are available in red, black and blue, and come in various sizes.

THE WALK

The Walk goes through beautiful areas of the Hampshire countryside with some lovely views and woodland.  It will include Selborne Common where we shall enjoy the spectacular view over Selborne and the surrounding countryside before descending the famous ZigZag to Selborne.

§  The walk will be approximately 6 miles long with some uphill stretches and stiles.

§  Please walk between the leader and the back-marker.

§  Either the leader or the back-marker should be informed if you are going to leave the walk.

§  Families are welcome but any children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

§  The walk may go through fields that are grazed by livestock, and for very short distances on lanes.

§  Well controlled dogs are allowed – sponsored or not!

§  Although care will be taken, you are responsible for your own safety on the walk and that of any children who accompany you. The organisers of the sponsored walk cannot be held responsible for any incident that may occur on, or in connection with the walk.

 

BRING WITH YOU

§  Please remember to bring some water, and a packed lunch (see below).

§  Please wear suitable footwear bearing in mind that it may be muddy in places.

§  Please wear or pack waterproof clothing just in case…….!

§  Please bring your sponsorship form and any money you have collected. Cheques are preferable and should be made out to “Care Africa Network”.  These should be handed to the walk organisers prior to the commencement of the walk.

 

AFTER THE WALK (Approximately 2.30 pm)

§  Drinks including alcohol or tea and coffee can be purchased from the Selborne Arms, but it will probably be too late to buy food – so bring food with you!

§  View photographs and information about “Care Africa Network” and community development projects for orphans and vulnerable children in Africa.  Do ask us about the work of the Charity.

§  You may also like to visit the Gilbert White House and Garden, the Oates Museum, or the various gift and pottery shops in Selborne.

Your participation in our sponsored walk and the donation of money that you raise is very much appreciated.  You will have helped the continuation of work that will improve the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children in Africa.

In the evening after the walk you are welcome to join us and other walkers for a meal at the The Globe on the Lake, Broad Street Alresford, Hants SO249DB, (01962 733118) at 7pm for 7.30pm.
