The objectives of Care Africa
Network are:
̶
To empower communities
in Africa to continue to meet the holistic needs of orphans and vulnerable
children.
̶
To disseminate
knowledge of innovating ideas and successful methods of meeting children's
needs in challenging situations, to benefit more children.
̶
To promote and support
communities in developing culturally appropriate initiatives to meet the
particular needs of their children.
̶
To advocate and raise
awareness of the needs of orphans and vulnerable children in Africa.
̶
To campaign for the
support of community development projects which enable the needs of orphans and
vulnerable children to be met within their extended family and community.
̶
To promote the support
and development of African community care systems to benefit future generations
of orphans and vulnerable children and adults.
OUR ROLE
Knowledge of successful
initiatives must be made available to benefit other children elsewhere. After
consultation with the heads of children's services in Lesotho, Swaziland,
Kenya, and Uganda and many others, Care Africa Network enables this by:
̶
Reviewing the best
community-development projects for orphans and vulnerable children in these
four countries.
̶
Disseminating ideas and methods
which are effective in enabling families to provide good care; so as to benefit
more children in need..
̶
Providing consultation
and training to enable communities to develop culturally appropriate
initiatives to meet the particular needs of their children.
̶
Where needed,
providing initial small capital input for income-generating projects, which
will enable self-sufficiency for the future.
̶
Advertising the work
of good organisations to raise their profile and facilitate their access to
funding
